Let me go off. Because I am a socially retarded hermit, I have never until the other night heard Di Anne Price, who plays all over town all the time. And when I finally did I was mesmerized. She's one of the best torch singers I've ever heard, can play the piano like nobody's business, and takes big long drags off of her cigarette between songs. Talk about fabulous. When I saw her, it was just her and a grand piano, but she's playing with her "Boyfriends" this afternoon at Huey's Midtown. Go see and hear her. Also, there's Summer Session '99 at the Mud Island Amphitheatre, with Galactic, Gov't Mule, the String Cheese Incident, and moe.
